Strengthening Our Club for Future Generations

The Board in mid 2025 approved the establishment of the Green Acres Golf Club Foundation to be governed by an independent committee and a newly cast By-Law.

The Green Acres Golf Club Foundation (GAGCF) has principally been established to facilitate funding to support key Green Acres Golf Club projects that contribute to the development of the game of golf and help preserve, develop and maintain the high standards of our facilities and golf course here at Green Acres. Projects include:

  • The growth and development of golf such as in the improvement of existing facilities including but not limited to; the funding of course development, furnishings and club amenities.
  • The development of new club facilities, buildings and supporting infrastructure.
  • Funding the purchase of capital equipment to support the above projects.
  • The development and participation in Junior Golf.

Our Vision for the Foundation

The Green Acres Golf Club Foundation is dedicated to advancing the game of golf by supporting initiatives that promote both development and participation. This commitment will be reflected through a range of projects and programs designed to foster growth, highlight the lifestyle benefits of golf and enhance engagement particularly among junior players.

In addition, our vision is to position the Club as a welcoming destination for new members who share an interest not only in the sport itself but also in joining a community that values innovation and meaningful opportunities for its members.

How Members Will Be Kept Informed

Green Acres administration will provide regular updates to members on approved projects funded by the Foundation as well as communicating key funding milestones to ensure transparency regarding the Foundation’s financial activities. Members will also be notified through GA News and via this website when the Foundation, supported by the Club, is seeking donations for a specific project.

In addition, members can expect periodic announcements regarding fundraising events and other related activities.

Process for Project Selection

Projects will be identified, developed, and assessed by the Green Acres Golf Club Foundation (GAGCF) in consultation with the Green Acres Golf Club Board (GAGC). Funding approval will only be granted once all preliminary planning, due diligence processes and required authorisations have been fully completed.

The careful evaluation and selection of projects is essential to ensure they align with the Foundation’s vision, are approved by the GAGC Board and meet the criteria outlined in the applicable By-Law.

FAQS

The Foundation is an independent entity, governed by an independent committee and a newly cast By-Law. Although all projects must be approved by the Board the combination of Board and Committee are in place to ensure that all donations and bequests are used solely for the purposes outlined by the Foundation. One of the responsibilities of the GAGCF committee is to independently ensure that all donations and bequests are used for the approved purposes.

The Foundation Committee identifies a range of projects or campaigns it wishes to undertake over time. Some of these projects may be registered with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), enabling tax-deductible donations to be made in support of a specific initiative. Donations made to the ASF for a designated project are directed to the Foundation. Once received, the Foundation allocates these funds to the Club solely for the approved project or overall Foundation campaign. In addition, the Club may request support from the Foundation for other initiatives using the Foundation’s accumulated and unallocated reserves. In such cases, the Foundation will assess the request and independently determine whether it can provide funding at that time.

Appropriate recognition will be provided for members who make donations or bequests, with the specific form of acknowledgement currently under consideration. Confidentiality will be fully respected and maintained for those who choose to contribute anonymously.

Donations and bequests can be directed to specific Club projects either through the ASF or the Foundation. In these circumstances, the funds will only be used for those projects.  Funds can also be left to the Foundation for unspecified use. In these cases, the funds donated or bequeathed will be added to accumulated reserves of the Foundation. In time, those funds may be applied to a future project of the Club with the support and approval of the Foundation Board.

If you would like to apply funds to a project that is not currently identified by the Club, you are encouraged to discuss your preference with the Chairman of the Foundation Simon Marsh at: foundation@greenacresgolf.com.au

A bequest is a gift left to a beneficiary in an individual’s will. There are several types of bequests which may include a residual bequest, a percentage of an estate, a specific sum of money, or assets such as real estate, shares or artwork.
