The 2024 Cox Plate was held on Sunday, 8th December, under beautiful sunny skies. The course was in excellent condition, and the atmosphere was lively and upbeat.
To be eligible to win this year’s Cox Plate, participants must have served or currently serve on a Sub-Committee or Board at the club. Of the 80 players who competed in the afternoon, 16 were eligible to contend for this year’s prestigious T.E. & E.J. Cox Plate.
This trophy event was established in 2015 to honour Terry and Joy Cox for their nearly 50 years of dedicated service to Green Acres. Both are highly respected stalwarts of the club. The perpetual trophy was generously donated by Peter and Jennifer French, with Peter Hopper, a 50-year member, becoming its inaugural winner in 2015.
The afternoon saw some outstanding golf, including a brilliant performance by Will Bate, who shot a sizzling 66 off the stick to win the daily Stableford competition with 43 points. However, those eligible for the Cox Plate were a few shots further back.
A highlight of the day was the presence of Terry and Joy Cox, who came to present the trophy named in their honour.
In the end, it was Jacqui Moorhead who claimed the 2024 T.E. & E.J. Cox Plate with a solid score of 36 points.
