It was fantastic to see all the pennant squads come together to celebrate the season. Although no team claimed a flag this year, there was still plenty to celebrate among peers from all categories of pennant. The evening provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the past season, while also inspiring and motivating everyone for the season ahead—hopefully one that brings home a flag.
Some of the highlights included the Sunday Women’s Pennant team reaching the semi-finals, and the Men’s Pennant team securing a final-round victory with a depleted lineup to retain their place in Division 4. The Senior Pennant team also had a consistent season, narrowly missing out on a place in the final. Despite finishing equal on points, they ended the season in third due to a lower number of match wins.
This year also marked a rebuilding phase for the Youth Pennant team, with many of our Junior Pennant boys stepping up to represent Green Acres. It was fantastic to see the camaraderie and enthusiasm they brought to the squad, laying a strong foundation for the future.
The evening also recognised the invaluable contribution of our Team Managers, whose dedication, organisation, and unwavering support throughout the season were vital to the smooth running and success of each squad. Ernie Mensforth, Team Manager of the Yarra Courses Senior Pennant team, retired from his role at the end of the season. Both the Club and the players sincerely acknowledge and appreciate his outstanding contribution and commitment over the past decade.
