On a beautiful summer’s day during today’s January Medal, a very special moment unfolded. As Phil and his group stood on the 9th tee, eagerly anticipating a well-earned refreshing beverage in the air-conditioned comfort of the clubhouse, Phil stepped up with his trusty 8-iron. He struck the ball slightly left of the back pin location, and it bounced kindly back toward the hole.
As the group approached the green, they noticed only three balls were visible, even though there should have been four quality golf shots. One of Phil’s playing partners decided to check the hole—and to everyone’s amazement, there was Phil’s ball, resting at the bottom of the cup!
Congratulations to Phil Smyth for achieving his third-ever hole-in-one, and his second on the 9th hole. What an incredible achievement!
